A trained practitioner inserts a thin, sterile filament needle directly into a trigger point—what you likely know as a muscle knot. The term "dry" simply means the needle is non-medicated; there are no injections or chemicals involved. The therapeutic effect comes entirely from the physical interaction between the needle and your muscle tissue.
Is Dry Needling the same as Acupuncture?
While both treatments use similar thin needles, they are entirely different practices. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and focuses on balancing the flow of energy (Qi) along meridians. Dry needling is rooted in Western medicine and modern neuromuscular anatomy, targeting specific musculoskeletal pain points.

What to Expect During Your Session

The Insertion: The needle is inserted quickly. Most clients feel a minor pinch or a deep, dull ache, followed by a brief muscle twitch. While it can feel unusual, it is rarely described as painful.

Aftercare: You might experience some mild muscle soreness in the treated area for 12 to 24 hours—very similar to the feeling of a hard workout. Drinking plenty of water and moving gently helps this fade quickly.
