Myofascial Cupping
Myofascial cupping offers several unique physiological and therapeutic benefits, particularly because it uses negative pressure (suction) rather than the positive pressure (pushing down) of traditional bodywork.
The core benefits of myofascial cupping include:
-
Fascial Decompression: Instead of compressing tissue, the cups pull upward, gently lifting and separating layers of skin, fascia, and muscle to release restrictions and adhesions.
-
Enhanced Blood Flow and Microcirculation: The suction draws blood to the surface and into stagnant or tight tissue, flooding the area with fresh oxygen and vital nutrients to speed up healing.
-
Improved Range of Motion: By loosening tight, "glued-down" fascial layers, cupping helps muscles slide and glide freely over one another again, making it easier to move.
-
Nervous System Relaxation: The stretching and pulling sensation stimulates mechanoreceptors in the skin, sending calming signals to the brain that help down-regulate muscle tension and promote deep relaxation.
-
Lymphatic Drainage and Detoxification: Cupping helps stimulate the lymphatic system, encouraging the clearance of stagnant metabolic waste products and cellular debris from overworked tissues.
-
Reduced Muscle Soreness and Stiffness: It acts as a great reset for overworked or chronically tight muscle groups, relieving pain without requiring heavy manual compression.
What to expect during your session:
-
Suzie will talk with you about your areas of pain, restriction or tightness.
-
The area will be palpated to locate exact areas to be treated.
-
Soothing balm will be applied to the area followed by moisturising cream to help the cups glide smoothly through the muscle tissue.
-
Cups will be placed on the body and a trigger tool will suck the air out of the cups, making them lift and separate the soft tissue. The cups will then slide over the tissue with different areas requiring different levels of pressure. The cups will be placed in specific problem areas for a few minutes.
-
Cups will then be removed and the skin will be cleaned.
